Photovoltaics insurance
Many homeowners install photovoltaic systems for electricity generation on their own roof. Smaller solar systems are usually insured against fire, storms and lightning in the existing building insurance facility up to certain maximum amounts. Facilities on commercial enterprises or ground-mounted facilities require a separate
Insurance. Basically, the value of the property increases due to a permanently installed photovoltaic system - there is a risk of sub-insurance. If you do not adjust the insurance cover in time for such an improvement in value, the building insurer will not fully reimburse possible damages later. Anyone planning a solar system should therefore make an early contact with their building insurer or a specialised photovoltaic insurer and clarify to what extent the insurance cover has to be adapted.
Some insurance companies now offer special photovoltaic insurance packages. The risk protection of these policies is much more extensive than in simple building insurance. Depending on the scope of the contract, the photovoltaic insurer also compensates for damage caused by operating errors, vandalism, theft, sabotage, overvoltage in the power grid, short circuit and martens of power leading lines. In the event of damage, cleaning and disposal costs, masonry as well as costs for scaffolding and work platforms are also compensated. In the event of damage caused by construction, material and execution errors, the insurer also steps in.
As the owner, you are responsible for the safety of your solar system itself - if the photovoltaic insurance also contains liability protection, you are financially on the safe side, if, for example, people are injured by falling splinters of a bersing glass cover. Before concluding one's own liability protection for the solar system, however, one should check whether and to what extent protection already exists in personal personal liability insurance or in the house and property owner liability obligation. Depending on the provider, you can even insure the earnings failure in the photovoltaic ice on request and usually against additional contribution if the solar system stands still until a damage is repaired.
There are risks from the beginning of the construction phase, both at a private facility and in the commercial area, whether factory or outdoor area. Therefore, there should be insurance cover upon the start of construction.
