Health insurance

Tree Pose

The model: You remain a member of your statutory health insurance company and also include supplementary health insurance, which raises your benefit entitlements at a private level.

As in private full insurance, you can adapt the supplementary health insurance to your personal needs by individually choosing the tariff. Such a policy, for example, can be completely cushioned by own contributions for drug and treatment costs.

-Closing important gaps With the current cuts into statutory health insurance, the gap between cash desk and private patients is even greater. Not everyone can switch to the private body - but with a private supplementary protection in addition to your statutory health insurance, you can close important gaps. Private supplementary health insurance comes up for costs that are not included or not completely covered by the statutory cash desk - e.g. for high-quality dentures, glasses and contact lenses, natural health procedures, for preferable treatment in hospitals and for medical services abroad. Whether outpatient, inpatient or dental treatment - which services you should also protect privately depends on your personal claims. Compare at your leisure - because often the offer that makes your cash register is more expensive than the performance-enhancing rate of a private health insurer.

-Scope of services You can individually choose which services are important to you. There are a variety of options available - with so-called inpatient tariffs, you can, for example, insure chief physician treatment in the hospital, accommodation in a single or twin room or the own participation in spa and clinics. A hospital day money or sickness allowance in case of incapacity for work can also be agreed. The costs for alternative healing methods such as acupuncture or homeopathy, for additional payments to medicines or for medical aids such as hearing aids can be collected with outpatient tariffs. In view of the performance cuts of the statutory cash registers, the protection of dental proofing and visual aids is also useful. A supplementary care insurance offers financial protection in case of care. The private foreign travel health insurance pays the full treatment costs abroad and, in an emergency, the expensive ambulance transport back home. Depending on the chosen rate, you can combine all these services according to your personal needs.

-Legal, private or additional? Alternative insurance options Anyone who is compulsory insurance in the statutory health insurance can secure additional benefits for relatively low monthly contributions. For others, private health insurance is the lower alternative. Legal + supplementary rate or full private insurance? On this page you will receive an overview of the benefits of statutory health insurance, private health insurance and supplementary health insurance.

-Who should take out The gaps in the range of services offered by statutory cash registers are becoming increasingly widen. In principle, every statutory health insured person can bring their care to private level by means of good supplementary protection - whether employee, worker, self-employed person, housewife, volunteer member or mandatory member of a statutory cash register. Those who already have private health insurance are best secured by switching to a more performance rate with their private health insurer. Whether and in what scope of services are required depends on your individual requirements and needs. Private supplementary health insurance is useful for all those who want to secure first-class medical services and reduce their financial burden in the event of illness.

-The topic costs The contributions in supplementary health insurance are calculated on the basis of age of entry and health at the time of conclusion of the contract. So the earlier you take out a private supplementary health insurance, the more favourable the contribution. Insurers assess the health status However, private health insurers inform themselves about your health status before taking out additional health insurance. When submitting the application, you will be asked questions about illnesses in recent years, accidents, hospital stays or dental treatments. For serious or not yet healed diseases, insurers often demand a contribution surcharge or exclude individual illnesses from insurance cover. Not every company assesses the risks the same - the comparison is definitely worthwhile. Contributions tax deductible Expenses for private supplementary health insurance can also be asserted for tax purposes: daily hospital allowance and sick pay are considered to be paid for precautions and can be sold within borders as special expenses. The same applies to contributions to supplementary care insurance.

Better tooth supply The contribution of statutory health insurance providers to dental treatment and dental prose increases with each new health care reform. The statutory cash destinations only pay a fixed grant located - regardless of whether you choose the minimum supply or want a dental prosthesis that also meets aesthetic requirements. With a private dental insurance, you can close the gap in the benefit gap between actual dental replacement costs and the reimbursement of cash registers - either pro rata or complete. Depending on the tariff, implants, ceramic inlays and veneers are reimbursed, and costs for dental and jaw regulation (cattining clips) can also be fully secured. However, dental tariffs cannot be insured solely by some providers, but only in conjunction with inpatient or outpatient basic rates. Ongoing treatments are not reimbursed Before completing a dental tariff, the insurer usually requires an examination by the treating dentist, and a contribution surcharge is usually charged for missing teeth. Denomination measures already initiated are excluded from performance by all suppliers. In addition, the insurers will generally only refund after a waiting period of 8 months.
